Beetroot and Lemon Myrtle Chutney 240g
Provenance: Lemon Myrtle is an incredibly flavoured leaf herb from coastal rainforest trees ranging from the sub-tropical climes of northern NSW and the tropical north in Qld. In the beginning of the commercial use of Lemon Myrtle we had to rely on wild harvesters of remnant trees on farmland - we never harvested from the bush as the trees were rare and protected. Happily those days are long gone and Lemon Myrtle is a huge orchard success with all Lemon Myrtle now grown commercially in sustainable plantations. To learn more about this wonderful herb click here
Give any meal a taste of adventure
This gorgeously coloured and richly flavoured Beetroot Chutney is elevated with the light and herbaceous addition of Lemon Myrtle. Lemon Myrtle's dominant flavour is lemon/citrus but it has hints of lemon grass and lemon verbena that comes from its extraordinarily high levels of citral - the essential oil that gives the leaf it's fragrant aroma and flavour. The Chutney is divine with pork of any kind, duck or chicken, turkey or game birds. Make a leek and potato and Beetroot and Lemon Myrtle tart or serve slathered on bread with a really decent fetta or goats cheese.
