These fabulously delicious and healthy Bliss Balls are made with cacao , which is the raw chocolate powder from the cacao beans that haven't been roasted ( cocoa on the other hand, is a processed chocolate product that comes from the roasted bean) and Davidson's Plum Superfruit Powder, a freeze dried fruit powder from the rainforests of Eastern Australia
Cacao has a richer chocolate flavour and when dusted with Davidson's Plum Superfruit Powder it not only is a taste sensation but you are getting the benefit of the rich antioxidants in these two beautiful ingredients. The Davidson's Plum is exquisitely sour and is a marvellous tangy foil to the richness of the cacao.
Makes approx 18 balls
20 (400g) Medjool dates, pitted
1/2 cup (80g) hazelnuts
1/2 cup (80g) macadamia nuts
1/4 cup (25g) Cacao powder
1-2 tablespoons coconut oil, melted o virgin olive oil
Davidson's Plum Superfruit Powder for coating
Pace the dates, hazelnuts and macadamia nuts in a food processor and blend until well combined. Add the Cacao powder and oil and blend again until a dough begins to form. If the mix looks and feel a bit dry add a little water. The mix should be firm and a little sticky.
Using your hands, roll tablespoons of the mix into snack sized balls and roll them in the Davidson's Plum Superfruit Powder until coated. Place them on a tray lined with baking paper. Refrigerate the balls for at least 30 minutes.
You may like to give the balls a further quick coating of the Davidson's Plum Superfruit Powder just before serving, if the original coating has been absorbed. They look so great with the rich magenta colour!
